How to Apply for a Work Permit (EAD)
Instructions to obtain Employment Authorization while waiting for your Green Card or other immigration benefit.
You can apply for EAD if you have a pending asylum claim, applied for Green Card (I-485), have TPS, DACA, or certain visas.
Download the form at uscis.gov/i-765. You'll need to select the correct eligibility code for your situation.

I-765 en USCISPrepare: 2 passport photos, passport copy, copy of status document (I-797, I-94, TPS, etc.), and fee payment.
The fee is $520 (may vary). If you cannot afford it, request a fee waiver with Form I-912.
Mail everything certified to the USCIS address for your state. Keep the tracking receipt.
In 2-3 weeks you'll get a letter with your case number. Total process takes 3-7 months. Check at egov.uscis.gov.
